1. 🎼 Japanese Breakfast – Live in Concert

Originally a solo project, Japanese Breakfast was founded in Philadelphia in 2013, starting off as an outlet for Michelle Zauner's grief around the illness and death of her mother. Zauner has previously said that the name originates from seeing a GIF of Japanese Breakfast, you could almost say it gives you a taste of the band and their music! Now a five-piece act, their music has something for everyone, exploring the realms from soft upbeat indie pop to dark and broody heartbreak. Catch one of the world's most exciting indie bands live!

2. 🎼  SAMMAY’s the way home is an upwards spiral – World Premiere

Experience an innovative free outdoor dance theater performance at Yerba Buena Gardens, 2:00pm. Choreographer Sammay Peñaflor Dizon, a Filipinx American artist, debuts a site-responsive piece that transforms the Gardens’ lawn into a “liberated movement zone”. This work fuses street dance styles (popping, krumping, house, waacking, voguing) with indigenous Filipino themes to challenge Western dance norms and highlight women’s bodily. Bay Area dancers of diverse backgrounds will perform, inviting the audience to move along in moments. It’s culturally relevant and cutting-edge, produced by the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival (which means it’s free to attend). Arrive early with a blanket – this world premiere is drawing a lot of art.
